“The way we die lives on in the memory of those who survive”.

Dame Cicely Saunders

Let's Start The Conversation

All of us will experience death at some point in our lives, and too many people die in a place they wouldn’t choose and in circumstances they aren’t happy with.

Why do we find it so hard to talk about?

While talking about death and dying might be uncomfortable or upsetting, experience shows that having conversations about these subjects within families and communities, and with our health care professionals, can help us prepare practically and emotionally.

Planning ahead doesn't have to be scary or difficult - why shouldn’t we talk about what we would like so that our final days and hours are as happy as they can be?

Thinking, talking, sharing and writing down what is important to you about your future takes time.

So, why not start the conversation today.

Events

Death Café
Monthly

You are warmly invited to join in our online Death Café, where a group of strangers gather to discuss death! And since we are meeting virtually we recommend you bring your own cuppa and cake!

A Death Café is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes rather than a grief support or counselling session.

More Information

Start the Conversation is a community collaboration between Isabel Hospice, Hertfordshire County Council and NHS partners, to help people start thinking and talking about their end of life wishes, and then share that information with others.
